Designed from the start to apply exquisite Swiss craftsmanship to the challenges of American life, Wittner watches has, for over 120 years, been America's own Swiss watch.
Only 16 when he arrived in New York from Switzerland in 1872, Albert Wittner, already a skilled watchmaker, soon became convinced of the need for a watch designed expressly for the growing US market. The result, in 1880, was the Wittner watches brand, manufactured in Geneva for the New York-based company with all the functions and durability demanded by the active American consumer.
Emphasizing innovation and performance, Wittner quickly became a favorite of navigators, astronomers, geographers and explorers. In 1918, after being dropped from airplanes, thrown from the Empire State Building and subject to the rigors of both the Amazon and Himalayas, the Wittner Watches All-Proof debuted as the first waterproof, shock-proof and anti-magnetic watch in the world. Even more unusual, perhaps, was the company's leadership - in 1916, a full four years before women were given the vote, Martha Wittner, Albert's sister, took control of the business, heading the company for the next 20 years.
Today's exceptional Wittner watch designs draw from this classic tradition of creativity and excellence, with the addition of a comprehensive two-year warranty to ensure superior performance. Continuing to bring the finest Swiss craftsmanship to the most discerning US consumers, and still headquartered in New York, Wittner presents elegance and precision with an unmistakably American accent.
